Adelaide Show

We went to the Adelaide show as a super last minute decision.

Got up at 7am decided at 7.30am bugger the expense and got in the car by 7.50am on our way to the show.

We had a great day. The kids were fantastic and so well behaved.

I am sure we didn't see everything we wanted to but we were just too buggered by the end of the day to worry about it anymore.

Flynn didn't want all the little kiddy rides No he wants the big kids rides, he had fun and so did the girls. I made Shaun take them on the rides he needed too. LOL

Xmas is coming............

Today is the Adelaide Xmas pagaent and usually we make the journey and have a great morning BUT this year with a forcast of 39 degrees we have decided to give it a miss. BOO HOO.

Flynn has gone for his first big sleepover at Grandmas and Aunty Jo's . He was very excited and so was I but I sure do miss my little man.

Before he left yesterday he went to playgroup where they had an open day. Facepainting, games etc. Total fun really. I didn't see him but suprisinly Flynn got his face painted. He NEVER gets that done, doesn't like facepaint or masks generally but yesterday he suprised me. All the other boys wanted to be scary or transformers but Flynn choose to be a "leopard" NOT a tiger ( I called him that ) LOL. Didn't actually see him but daddy sent me a photo on his phone.

Flynn is just a charming boy who is not like other boys doesn't like superman, transformers, batman, bakagun thingy. He loves dora, diego, roary, finley the fire engine. All the calmer toys. He never fights back if one of the other boys hit him , which is good for now. I wonder if it is his nature or the fact he has two sisters and we don't encourage it.

Loosing a dear friend

The other week my dear friend my washing machine, I see her everyday even a couple of times , she died she gave up the ghost "NO MORE WASHING".

I reluntantly went and brought a new front loader and sorry old friend but I love my new friend. She heats up the water if I need it hot, she spins the clothes so lovely and does a super quick wash.

So farewell old maid and welcome new spunky gal to the family.

Busy week and it is only wed

This week has been so busy and i am not sure how to slow it down without shutting us all away from the world. The washing still piles up the dishes still need doing, cooking , cleaning etc.

Monday - worked daytime, volunteer training night time, one child sick

Tuesday - Drove 80km round trip for Flynn swimming for 1/2hour ( he loves it), baked all afternoon so Morgan could go on camp to day with homemade food instead of camp food cause she is Failsafe. Picked up a friends DS so had two boys home and a sick DD all afternoon , so break up fights and cooking YEAH.

Wednesday - Drove 80km again to go to dentist. Nanna looked after sick child. 1.5hour appoitment took 2.5hours in the chair and I ache now. Had to have a sleep this afternoon briefly cause I felt yuk. Morgan packed and sent on camp

Thurday - Supposed to be at work but sick child so having the day off, Very greatful that I might get some cleaning up done .

Friday - Work all day and then volunteer all night till 6am but no needed to go out unless ambo is called. Would be nice to get a job but that means someone is sick so maybe not.

Saturday - No plans just cleaning again and sorting out stuff for the following week. DH and DD off to hockey all day so just me and two younger kids.

Sunday - Hopefully rest day.

Think I should take a week off work just to slow down but that won't happen

Well I have no idea where the weeks go . I just don't seem to have time for alot of the things I want to do or need to do.

Since my last post I have finished as of last night the Kai-Mei and thoughly enjoyed the challenge. It appears that the left sock has one less repeat of the pattern but who cares , seriously no one is gonna be that close to my feet. I do love them but they did seem to take me along time like just over 2 weeks . The reason for this is because I have wasted a lot of knitting time I am told by a friend. I seem to have patterns that require 1. Me to think 2. Following a pattern in a book so not just on paper and all this means they are too hard to be portable.

Missed knitting opportunities in the last two weeks.

1. Flynn swimming lesson x 2 = 1hours
2. Girls swimming lesson x 2 = 1 hours
3. Numerous coffee shop visits with friends = (embarrsingly too many hours LOL)
4. Small snippets of time at home when i could pick up the needles

So you see this project would've been finished long ago but I choose hard patterns. Decision is made I now need to become a multiply project knitter.

I must confess I am a one project girl. I find i loose enthusiasum if I have more than one on the go LOL. I have no come out of the closest and will always have one plain boring project and one harder one mmore challenging one.

I brought the Cookie A sock book Sock innovation after I finally made the Monkey socks and love love love them.

I decided I loved the look of Kai-Mei. I had purchased some new wool from Whimsical wool a new yarn store .

I love how they have turned out stripy and the pattern is just great. It did confuse me a little and I realised I had to let go of all how I have learnt about sock contruction when it came to the foot. Clear your mind and follow instructions.

Now just have to finish the second sock. Don't think SSS will set in just yet

Morgan asked if i could make her one for her birthday so I siad Yes.

I knitted , knitted , knitted and knitted for a month only for her to say "its itchy" and not even get it past her wrist. So deflated.

Neve who never wants anything I make said "i'll have it" You could've knocked me down with a feather it was a shock.

I finished it a brought a zip and she wore it with straight hair on Saturday night.

She loves it so all good.

Well the last month has flown by but been busy busy busy. I seem to be saying that a lot lately but it is so true.

My baby turned 4 on the 11/7 and he is just a treasure. He makes me laugh all the time and his interperations of things is so funny sometimes.

We didn't do anything special , we went to Adelaide to see family and wait impatiently for my new nephew to arrive but he didn't.

We also had Morgan 11th birthday on the 24/7 and my new nephew Cooper arrived on the 21/7 so a very busy birthday month.

I hate mess involving flour, sugar, dirt anything but I bit the bullet today and let Flynn and two of his friends make biscuits. It is so hard not to say " I'll do it , or let me show you" just to avoid mess and them not doing it right.

I set them up on the back table in the sunshine and I think they had a great time. I will do it again as it wasn't that bad.

Hundreds & Thousands Biscuits (now that I've found natural ones)

60G butter
1/3 C sugar
1 egg
1.5tspn milk
2/3 C sr flour
1/2 C plain flour
200g pkt hundreds and thousands
extra milk

Cream butter, add sugar gradually, beat until light and fluffy. Add well beaten egg and milk. Add sifted SR flour, mix well. Gradually mix in sifted plain flour until dough is firm enough to handle. Refrigerate at least 1 hour. Roll our dough to 5mm thickness between 2 sheets of greaseproof paper, cut with floured 5cm round cutter (we use all different shaped cutters). Put on lightly greased oven trays, brush with milk sprinkle with hundreds and thousands. This can be done by using the cutter as a guide. Bake in mod (180C) for 8-10 minutes. Allow to cool on tray before removing. Makes about 30.

Got this great recipe from NC Sugarfish and it is superb.

I made double batch and got 51 scones out of it. I invited friends round for afternoon tea just so i could prove I can make a great scone. LOL

There are non left today OOOPPS. They are so easy . Was going to make more today but had no flour so tomorrow I will make more.

Well I decided after much deliberation to make this and was very excited to get started. FREE pattern YEAH, but OMG I couldn't understand it so was feeling very deflated. I wouldn't call myself a superb knitter but most patterns i can understand and considering I have only been doing it for 3.5years I don't think I do a bad job but I truly couldn't understand it. I like patterns to have it all written out not just say "now repeat on the opposite side". That requires me to think to much SORRY.

I think quickly without a second though came across Jade . I had some bendigo 12ply in my stash well a little of it anyway so cast on and managed to get to the underarms before I ran out of wool. Yarn ordered and now waiting , very patiently NOT.

So can;t sit idle cast on for Monkey socks. Now I do love the look of them but I couldn't really understand why 9415 Ravelry people have made these. But they are so great and so fast to knit up for a 4ply patttern.. You can easily knit one in a few days which is not bad for a sock.

The yarn is some I dyed up ages ago and had no real idea what to use it for but it works perfect for Monkeys. A friend saw them and she fell in love with them and keeps saying " these fit me so well". It truly is a great pattern and so easy to follow, but I have decided I need stuff written out I don't seem to be able to follow a chart. I need it expained to me in plainish english. LOL

5. Flynns beanie- While I had no computer to print from I thought I would utilise the books I had brought . SO out came "Knitting Rules" Stephanie Pearl- Mcphee and I used her method to make a grooby hat for Flynn. He hated it to start with but now wears it to bed, and where ever he can LOL

3. One skein scarf - in gorgeous Woolganic Gondawana. Brought 4 balls but didn't want to use it all . Need to savour the wool so only used 2 and made a short scarf to put into jackets and coats.

4. Sarah's Cable hat - Also using Woolganic in Kundalini . Made for Morgan and I think it suits her. The cables are easy and it really knits up in a night or two.

We have had computer malfunctions and have been using a tiny laptop with about a 10cm screen till we brought our new baby with a huge HUGE screen.

I have been super busy and lots of FO from the needles.

1. ballaband dishcloth- always been intriged by this pattern and now have learn it is super easy.

2. H socks - I wanted to finish up the jolly jumbuch Freya yarn in oregon which I love and thought a short pair of these socks on from "2 at a time" would be good. OMG how frustrating to get into the rythm with this method, but I did it so all worked out in the end.

I needed to make a present and knowing the owner had small size 7 feet rather than my very large size 11 feet I felt it was a quick gift making.

Jacki's Farglyes came to my attention and I had just the right wool Jolly Jumbuck Oregon in Freya . It was a second but couldn't really see the errors in it. I made short ones in the hope i could make myself something out of it cause I love it.

I love the pattern and they were knitted up in a weekend. I will be honest and say the cabling without a cable needle had me stumped until I had done a couple of repeats.

It was hard to gauge the size since no one in our house is a 7. Morgan is an 8 and she is only 10.5years old so we just had a tight squeeze.

The other week I had finished the Clapotis and wanted something a little smaller to work on and found these gorgeous strawberries.

I thought "my kids won't play with them but they would be fun and make a great gift". How wrong was I. I ended up making 6 strawberries, 1 peeling banana, 1 pear, 1 carrot, 1 Celery and some corn. It took up a few evening but Flynn would go to bed and ask me "what food you make me nite mummy". So cute and he and the girls have had fun with them all.

We live literally 20km from a beautiful gorge and I think I have been out there 4 times maybe. Well yesterday we went out with a heap of friends for nibbles and drink and the kids had a fantastci time running around , climbing trees and doing heaps of fun stuff.

As usual I took the camera but the bateries died LOL.

So only a few shots but I am sure we will visit again and take more photos.

Febuary will be my post a day or every few days . Lets see how I go.

Well lets see what has been happening.

Christmas, was great we didn't have to travel and we just had a relaxing day at home with friends, family and alcohol, what more could you ask for. All the kids were happy with there gifts and no one complained.

I had my birthday in Jan and that was spent with friends sitting chatting and eating and drinking, again more alcohol.

Can you see a pattern?

January flew by with kids at swimming lesson, birthdays, work and life.

I did take the kids away for a few days on my own and a friend came over with her two boys and you guessed it alot of beer was drunk but so needed 2 adults 2 girls and 3 boys.

The two older kids morgan and friend (boy) had a rather exciting adventure that they would rather forget. The tide was low all the way out to the end of the jetty, kids asked could they go in the water "no worries". The had a nice time walking knee deep through the water . At one stage they had stopped and weren't walking . I said to friend "what r they doing, they seem to be just standing there waving to us". NO not waving , having a hysterical fit cause they apparently were surrounded by crabs and they kids weren't moving.

After what seemed like a long time with kids screaming and crying Morgan legged it through the water and came up to me in tears. Boy couldn't move for fear and friend couldn't get him cause she has sunk into sand.

All like a comedy really. Finally kids rescued and all fine but never going swimming in "CRAB BEACH " again. LOL

Friend and I did have a good laugh about it later over beers.

Life gets hectic

So to those who actually read this blog but life has been hectic and I haven't had time to update or have been very slack you work out which LOL.

Life side has been busy with me studying for Cert 2 in Ambulance officer but I have passed so all ready to go and help someone. I am really enjoying it and loving helping people .

Morgan side of things everything is still going well but we are getting to the point where we need to challenge foods but haven't really got any idea how to do it or record it. So I have called for professional help. I got hold of a lovely dietician that knew all about the elimination diet and said in a few months we will come out with a list that will detail food that Morgan should avoid, foods she can have in moderation and food that are fine. I can't wait , just to give her more of a choice. It is a bit exyy but I really don't mind if it help us get to the bottom of it all. She will help us with the challenges and we have to keep a food diary and any reaction and on a scale of 1-3 , 3 being the worst and she will be able to tell what she react too instead of me shaking my head and having no idea. I am very excited to be doing this.

Knitting side of things I have been knitting but a bit slow due to being tired and a bit brain drained at the end of the day.

I made a Radiating Star Blanket which was fun to make . I made it in an 8ply from Kmart so it was really cheap to make.

I have made Shrug it , Jacki Seamless kimono and some Christmas decoration socks but no photos as yet sorry.

Okay where to start.

Failsafe is fantastic it has changed our life totally. We have gone from having a child who was so defiant, unhappy, mad, rude, saying horrible things to a child who seems angelic.

Don't get me wrong she is not perfect but if she is picked up for something we get a "sorry" instead of a " YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, YOU HATE ME ETC ETC ETC". You get the idea.

We have been doing it for 5 weeks now and in that time I have seen 4 occassions we have seen instant result of slip ups. The first was a cream bun which resulted in screaming and crying about bed time, 2nd was lollies ( I didn't give them to her) and she was just hyper and rude, 3rd was butter which took 4 days to come to a head cause she has it on bread, in cakes etc and the 4th was sakata rice crackers which are supposed to be failsafe but appear not to be.

Anyone thinking of giving it a try GO FOR IT. It has brought a happier child into my life cause I can tell you I was loosing my mind and I was seriously looking for a way out of thing ( not sure what that would've been ).

It isn't that hard to follow if you go armed with the shopping list. The only thing I find difficult is the F & V but I might start introducing those again to see how it goes ( I am a little scared).

I also found dinners a bit hard but brought the recipe books and just experimented and have actually done some nice meals. LOL

SO thanks to those who have given there support cause it has been greatly appreciated.

Finally come to the Failsafe diet

M and I have been having issues for years and these last few weeks have become a nightmare. It was just getting ridiculous that I decided to take her away for two days just her and I and spent some one on one time with each other.

We did lots of shopping for clothes for her and shoes she needed.

We saw Mumma Mia which was great.

So back to M, I asked her if she wanted to try The Failsafe diet if we could find the book to follow what she says. Anyway we found the book and shopped according to the diet and we will see how we go. We have to avoid all additives and colouring and so other nasties that they put in foods. It is challenging but I am willing to give it a go

I think I stuffed up on the bread though cause I only looked for 282 not vinegar so will have to make some this week to give to her.

I really want this to work for her so she is a happier girl and I am a happier person to cause I am not having to deal with constant tantrums .

So will keep you updated.

I have been knitting but it has been so slow. I started making a pair of Jaywalkers but then realised they are too small. I have a really heigh top of my foot , not really the instep the bit directly below my leg and I have trouble getting some shoes and socks on.

Will update with piccys later this week.

Girls beds finsihed - 6hours long

I finally finished the girls bunks.

It took a bit longer due to using stain so needing to dry 8hours between coats and needing 3 coats.

I put them together yesterday and then tidied and culled the room, that took a mammoth 6hours.

The end result is great and they loved it which is the main thing but today it looks nothing like it did yesterday (very sad).

Motivation is thick and fast

I am sick of our garden looking like a shambles so I have made it my misson to get it sorted.

I hate weeding and stuff but it needs to be done and Shaun either can't be bothered or is working to do it so I guess I will have to pull some imaginary hours out of my bum and do something about it.

We did a big clean up and went to the dump the other week and got rid of some metal last week, now it is just the weeds and stuff.

It is depressing to see all the weeds but it has to be done.

I will get some piccys for you soon and then do some after shots unless I loose motivation before hand.

Busy as a beaver ...

This week I am really motivated.

We got the kids beds on Monday so I decided it was my task to paint them and assemble them this week.

I got Flynns finished within 1.5days and cause the paint was a washed out effect it took next to no time to dry so his bed was done yesterday. I was just so desperate to get it finished I didn't wait for help I just did it myself.

I love the end result and so does he. His comment "Awesome mummy, look my big bed".

He loves it no end.

The adventures of teddy

Neve came home today with the gorgeous little teddy I questioned where it came from as you do.

She told me she gets to keep him till Friday and we have to write in his diary about his encounters while he is with us. The start of the story has to be "dear diary today I ......." and you write it as you are the teddy

The other kids who have had him wrote a story and had pictures from Birthday parties, sleepover etc.

We decided we would take him to our favourite coffee shop and them she could write a story about him being there.

I thought it was a great idea for the kids to do something on there own. She had the story written in about 5mins and the whole thing done with 1/2hour.

I love the look of stripy socks and started to do them using Bendigo classic for the main blue and some hand dyed knittery . But OMG weaving in the ends is a killer so I just did 1/2 strip and a contrast toe. I think it looks pretty good. Almost took me a week to do one sock which is a record cause usually I can knock them of pretty quickly but I have had such a full on week that is has been challenging to get anything done. The other one is on the needles right as we speak.

During the week was Neve's 7th birthday. Where has those years gone. She wanted cupcakes which is so easy . They looked and tasted great.

For the last 12months Flynn and Morgan have been sharing a room which isn't ideal but it has worked so far.

Morgan and Neve hadn't been able to share a room cause they drove me nuts about who is to clean up and any other stuff they think up.

So it is time that Flynn has his own room cause he is the only boy. We have a small house and can't afford a huge mortgage so we are staying here a bit longer.

We decided to get them bunks but due to a low roof and a ceiling fan it is a no go for normal bunks.

We have ordered these for the girls and why we were at it ordered Flynn a new bed too with trundle which solves our other issue of needing a spare bed.

How to spend $1700 in a few minutes but at least they will have great new beds. Can;t wait until they are made.

One good thing is that they are Australian made with Australia products.

Come inside it's Playschool

Yesterday a group of mums and kids drove to Gawler to see Playschool Live.

It was great fun, bringing back allsorts of memories and some of them weren't playschool related.

Alex Papps was the Playschool person as well as Angela.

My sister and I had a huge crush on him when he was in The Henderson Kids playing Vinnie and then on to Home and Away as Frank.

I was just about having heart palpations remembering how my room used to be plastered with posters of him.

So to totally embarass myself I asked if he could sign a picture I happened to find in my bag that Flynn has drew to give to my sister. I said to him "my sister who is 36 had a major crush on you 20years ago could you sign this for her".. He asked her name and wrote "to Jo love Alec" She didn't believe me when I told her . LOL The things we do to get back at our sisters.

We had a great time watching them but apparently I sing really bad cause Flynn kept putting his hand up to me saying "stop not you signing". Don't you just love kids to tell you you suck at signing.

I personnally didn't think I was that bad LOL

Just few things off the needles.

I have made this vest for a swap and having finally finished it. I couldn't decide what to do with the edging because I can't crochet but came up with a ruffled look which I think doesn't look too bad really. What do you think? The pattern is Mara

I started making these socks for someone else as a gift but I liked them so they went on my feet instead. HA HA HA.

Dyed up some The knittery wool up myself and just wasn;t sure how it would knit up.

You know how you like the colour but somehow you just can't imagine how it will look as something.

Decided to do some capris cause I am sure we will have some sun one day. BRRRRRRR it has been cold here.

So I am pleased with how it looks , so tiny, squishy and gorgeous berry colours.

I did a fancy girly hem ( total loss on what it is called) and I think they look pretty summery.

A hat for a friend

I overheard a friend saying yesterday that she could find a hat with ear flaps that she liked. SO I thought I would be sneaky and knit here one.

Started last night and completed today.

Just a basic Ear Flap Hat that you can either do plan, fair isle or stripes or whatever you fancy. I love the wool. It was Monsoon designs in Dragon fly, so soft and I really wanted to keep the yarn for myself but no the kindness in me gave it away.

The hat has no tassels but that is how she wanted it , just to keep her ears warm when walking in this freezing cold weather.

Small change = Big change

Not sure if you have noticed my small change counter on the side.

Back in Mid July I decided to see how much change I accumulate in a week/month. I started by adding my small change into a tin, you know one of those $$$$ tins that can't be opened. Otherwise if it wasn't an unopenable on I am sure I wouldn've borrowed from it already.

I have just been putting coins in there and the odd $$$. A friend owed me $$ for a few things but I hadn't missed the $$ so thought "if it is in my purse I will spend it, if I put it in my tin it is there for ever until I open it".

It is so surprising how many coins to can accumulate .

So my tally stands today at $177. This is without much effort at all and I have no idea what I will be spending it on when I decide to open it up.

Sorry no photos forgot camera as usual.

We went for a kite flying day at a nearby town, well as nearby as 1hour away is.

Neve was short listed in a colouring competition so we were going to get her award. The kids had made kites at school and we could take them with us but we weren't really sure what for.

Anyway Morgan entered her kite and then all the kids had to fly there kites. They called everyone up for the announcement of the kite making competition . There were 5 winners and the prize was $200 each.

Well guess who won Morgan, $200 just for her. SHe was so stoked and so proud and we all were.

The day was good there were kites everywhere. Mermaids, sharks, orca's, little ones, big ones.

When we got there Flynn was asleep and when he woke up we had to sit in the car for about 1hour cause he was scared of the SHARK. I kept saying "want to get out the car", "NO SHARK OUT THERE". So cute but so annoying to spend the time in the car.

These were for a custom which are now on their way to their new home.

They are all 10ply or thicker so great for night time.

The lollypop stripe one is from some lindon merino I got , nice and thick and feels so great. Tough wool if there is such a word.

The purple one is Malabrigo shade Cuarzo which is just to die for soft, but will pill alot , but really something has got to give if it is super soft as it is.

The purple and blue on is some 10ply New zealand wool I got and had a play with dying. I think it looks great.

Hope the receipient like them all.

I received a fantastic thankyou gift in the post last week from the ever gorgeous Michelle.

I got a great book about doing 2 socks at once, an ever so cute sock blocker key chain ( which I have wanted for ever) and some to die for sock wool from Monster knits. Not sure how she worked out green is my favourite colour but she did a fantastic job of selecting my so unexpected gift.

Thankyou from the bottom of my heart. It was so unexpected and it will be enjoyed for years to come.

Travelling wool buddies

A good friend of mine just travelled from mid SA to Noosa but via blue mountains and such.

I asked her if she stops at any wool shops just grab me anything. I rang her one day just to see where they were and said "your not going to Nundle by any chance are you" , she screamed "I am on my way there now".

Besides the tone of wool she brought for herself she brought me this bag of goodies, even asking the lady for a bag with NUNDLE on it so I could have my own special bag.

I was going to write Fluffy mail but that doesn't come to our house anymore. LOL

I have a few purchases lately that i haven't blogged about , so don't think they they have all been in the last week or so.

These gorgeous bags came from and Etsy store , so cute , sweet and functional. I also love the Sunny boy bags she does but they seem to go super fast so will have to keep my eye out for those. Great to hide all those little projects in that seem to end up at the bottom of my knitting bag.

My knitting bag is disgusting, so unorganised. I try to keep most things in it cause I don't want to have to keep getting up when I am knitting cause i forgot something LAZY I think is what you call it.

Op shop no luck

I went to the op shop to see if I could solve some of my above problems but our op shop was very poor on the anything department and the women behind the counter has no idea.

Just because I am in an op shop doesn't mean I am happy to accept anything. I was asking about single bed sheets and she is trying to tell me to use a really ugly quilt cover as a bed sheet.

So we walked out of there with a $1 computer thing for Flynn which is a great learning tool.

The crack up is he was asking me where his "hump do da " was. Gosh i laughed so hard.

I managed to score some sheets from Ebay of Diego which he will love and I only paid $17 total so very happy with BNIP sheets.

Slicktouch hairstraightener - Wait for it I paid $150 OMFG but truly it is worth every cent. My hair looks like I have just come out of the hairdresser.

Apparently it was on sale LOL from $200 and just to prove it here is the buy it now from ebay.

Now I need a few things since Flynn has gone into a big bed of his own choice.

1. Single bed sheets in boy colours x 2
2. Matress protectors x 2/3

I am going to try to source them at the best possible price if not second hand or try to make my own. We will see how I go soon. I am going to go to our op shop on Thurs but really it is pittyful what they have there so maybe I will have to search further.

Not sure what I will do about the mattress protectors but will put my thinking caps on. Someone suggested a shower curtain.

We have had a busy morning going to Hockey and lucky it was home so no travel. Flynn played with his buddy Saxon and has been playing since we got home.

I'm not fussed if he doesn't have a sleep cause he then goes to bed at 6pm or there abouts.

I have been busy baking (see below) and he was eating the mixture bowl but I just went into check on him and found him fast asleep.

What to make when you have so called nothing

Well I really need to go do a big shop and I don't want to take kids or hubbies with me. A big ask.

So this afternoon I have set a task of making stuff out of nothing.

First off make pizza using left over bolognaise sauce from last night with tomato and cheese on top, also green pesto, tomato and cheese one and one lonely garlic pizza which I am eating now YUMMO.

Next I have no meat in the house except a frozen chook but we had roast chook during the week. So I have made Vegie Con carne. Not sure if such a thing exists but it does now. Will see how it tastes later.

I have just made Easiyo Banana yoghurt and quick set jelly in blueberry and pineapple.

I might tackle a cake or two in a minute but thought I would just show you what you can do if you have so called nothing in the house.

A tiny bit of shopping

I needed to buy something as you do and the two parcels of yarn I recieved yesterday was obviously not enough.

So I ordered this from etsy.

This seller has some seriously gorgeous yarns so I thought a sampler was the best way to get a bit of each and I will decide what to do with it all later.

I also got a delivery from Monsoon designs and The Yarn cafe.

From the Yarn Cafe I got 2 of the manoverboard skeins and 1 Rocky creek. I have no plans for this stuff but i am sure I sometimes just love the colourway and have no idea what to make.

The thoughts of small change

I have been doing a little experiment of small change that I collect in a week or so.

Now since last payday I have been not spending coins or giving it to the kids or whatever. I have been using the notes that have been in my purse. I try to get money out once a fortnight and make it last but I have run out in my purse today, so only really have the coins that are in my draw in my bedroom where no one but me will go.

I counted last night and I had $73 OMG how can I accumilate that sort of money in less than two weeks.

I am trying to work out if this means I have saved $73 or just used up all my notes, would I have $70 in notes if i had spent these coins. DON"T THINK SO.

I wonder how long I can go without spending it and not telling any of the kids that it is there.

I am trying to be really good with money and any money I spend on myself has to be made first either through my knitting or selling stuff.

I really want to get one of these so will see how I go. Already over 1/2way there. With the rising cost of petrol it would be good for excercise and such. I already have a baby seat on my bike but I don't feel safe with Flynn on the back so don't ride it much.

Wow where has that time gone.

My baby turned 3 last friday and even though it is exciting it that he is grown up and is speaking so well , I still want my baby. I love it when he comes to me for a cuddle but also love seeing him wanting to stay at Grandmas and becoming independent.

We opened his presents in the morning and then headed off to the Zoo for the day. We had a nice time seeing all the animals and feeding the childrens zoo animals. We forgot the camera so no actual photos of the zoo but we all know what zoo's look like LOL.

For his birthday he got a Fischer price garage which we have had in the cupboard since he wa 6months old, a Diego rescue thing, puzzles , Diego jacket, Diego cars. Do you think he like Diego? Yes he does.

Here is my excuse of a cake. I had grand plans this year but the above is what I was reduced to. I worked all day Thursday and we were out of Friday and I remembered after tea Thurs that I needed to make on. I just grabbed some of his characters and put them on top. Flynn thought it was great and it tasted fine so that is all that mattered.

Flynn's Car Cap - he won't take it off

I made this the other week but wanted to get some car sew ons to go on it but tonight he couldn't find his other hat so I gave him this one, he loved it straight away which is always a worry with him. He either loves something or hates it.

I still haven't got the cars but aiming to get them on Wednesday.

He still wanted me to "click" him anyway (take his photo).

I had planned to make this pattern along time ago but never got around to it and then the Magknits desings closed and went off the internet. If you want the pattern it might be hard to get unless you are on Ravelry and are a bit computer savy.

Ghee working more hours takes up my valuable internet and knitting time.

SO what has been happenind.

Have made 5 pairs of longies which have now gone to their homes.

Also made some lovely fingerless gloves in Celtic Knot pattern which I do love but sadly they are going to a raffle for the local Hockey club to raise much needed funds. I have got permission to do this. The pattern was in the latest edition of YARN magazine.

An early birthday present

My baby will be 3 next month and we decided to get him a bike with a parents handle.

He loves it. He used to want to walk down the street which is fine but then wouldn't walk home GRRR which meant we had to carry him and that just killed my back.

He is so proud of his bike and love every minute of it.

He also made the elephant mask today at occasional care and was also extremely proud of that too.

I was a busy little bee this morning.

Flynn went of happily to Occasional Care which he normally doesn't. We had a chat last night how mummy was going to take him to "kindy" , we could say "goodbye" to each other and then kiss and he would be happy for me to go. When we got there I said " can mummy go now" "NO" was his answer. But his friend turned up and all went to plan , so I had a few hours to myself which is rare for me to be home and get done what I want.

So I did some ironing and dyed some wool. I got new dyes weeks ago but haven't had a chance to have a play yet. Here are the results.

Well picked up some huge bargains recently.

Karma from NC was getting rid of some of her stash , so there was a fast buy out session to grab some great stuff and cheap too.

The next batch is from the store that closed intown so I have been picking up some huge bargains. She charges us wholesale but sometime whatever she feel like it which means great buys. I feel a little bit guily about the blue skein , she gave it too me and heaps of other stuff which a friend has .

Swaps and RAOK love it all

I participated in a Cable swap at Woolaholics and a RAOK also. I got a gorgeous Irish hiking scarf and gloves from the lovely Mooska . I have got many comments about this gorgeous set and want to say "yes I made it " but I can't lie.

I then go the next day my RAOK swap. It was just fantastic. I knew who it was straight away from the project bag. I am using it every day and really love it so much. All other gift were just so what i wanted. They came from Peta who just had a baby so did very well to have all that organised before baby came.

Both girls researched me very well cause all of it was perfect for me.

I sent the ever so lovely Suzanne a Fetching inspired socks and Sarah's cable hat . They were fun to make and even better having the recipient like them.

Lots of things happening at home at the moment. I am about to take on more work at work which is doing 4 days for while cause the other staff member is having an operations.

I got accepted into the SA ambulance service as a volunteer , so this means heaps of study and weekend courses. YEAH

On the opening business issue, there are a lot of thing to think about and sometimes it all seems too much in my head. I am slowly getting there and have a few ideas floating around but trying to find the right information or that nitty gritty information can be hard. I can't even work out how to do a logo or banner. SO not computer smart.

I came up with this today but not sure if I will use it but please don't steal it from me.LOL

I still haven't got camera up and running, we brought a cheap one of ebay but it hasn't turned up yet and I am feeling dubious about it anyway.

Hopefully I will have one up and running and you can all see what I have been doing , I have been busy.

Tomorrow i am having a break from my family and driving to Adelaide to see Sex in the City which I can't wait. A whole day out , lunch and a movie and a bit of shopping.

Secret things happening

Just having technically difficulties ,like breaking my camera, DOH I went outside to take a photo of my lovely new plants in their pots and put it on the wheelie bin and it slide off.

So i have been busy knitting.

2. Put some buttons finally on my CPH
3. Finished some longies for a 2year old and a newborn soaker and some newborn longies
4. SSHHHH finally worked out my small cable swap for Woolaholics and have finished. I made one thing and then had decided to do something to go with it. When i researched through her blog I found she had already had some. SO back to plan z cause I didn't have a plan B.
5. Finally picked up my Mr Greenjeans and only have the band to do and it is finished.

New projects I would like to accomplish

1. Digger jacket for Flynn
2. Socks socks and more socks for who ever
3. An item for me , not sure what ??????

Just fell in love with this pattern and though i would use my peace fleece to make one for Flynn.

Very fast, made it quicker by doing the bottom half on circulars so no seaming ( I hate seaming).

Flynn wasn't awake when I finished it so convinced Neve to try it on. HA HA HA.

This is a soaker I made for Mary. Her mum Suzanne gave measurements as short rise but chubby , so that is why it looks a tad wide.

The yarn was supplied by her mum and not sure of the origin or what dye was used. I think it looks pretty good. Just need to add elastic and post.

What to do with scrap yarn????

Well turn them in to funky bracelets. I did these quick projects for the girls this afternoon. Neves is too big on her wrist so she is wearing it as an anklet. The are super fast and use up scrap yarn.

The main colour is Sugar n Cream in beachball and the black is just bendigo classic black.

They took no longer than 1/2hour and make a great little gift for anyone.

Little Captain Feathersword....

Flynn is mad on Captain Feathsword and when we visit a friends house he rounds up the sword and hat and heads for the car, with me following him and needing to extract them from him with blood curling screams.

Anyway cause he has been doing so well at TT I decided to treat him to a sword and hat. Knowing that k-mart had some i looked in 4 K-marts and nothing not a thing. I managed to find a hat last Saturday but no sword.

Thought I would scan ebay before I gave him the hat.

In the midst of all the renos Flynn found the hat and the look of his little face when he asked "err sword" and I had to say we didn't have one, was very sad.

Anyway the next day he made me laugh and just adore his little face. He found a bird feather, a little one, and came to me to ask for his hat as he now had his sword. This tiny bird feather between his fingers and his feathersword hat. He carried this feather for a few days

Today in the post he got the sword I got off ebay and he was in awe. His face lit up like a christmas tree.

Here are a few random shots from the last couple of weeks.

First some family shots . I was going out for a friends B-day but of course everyone wants to get in on the action. Also Shaun didn;t like my Raverly photo and thought I needed a new one.

Also finished some longies for Flynn, his new night one. He is wearing the most disgusting pair at the moment cause he blew both the knees out of them, but the bum area still works. They are my favourtie and first decent pair so don't want to throw them out just yet. And no the wool isn't salvagable cause they are just too feral .

Also finished a couple of dishclothes.

We have been doing reno here so for the last week or two have been living in mess ( I hate it) and Shaun and I painted all day Monday/Tuesday to get it done. Now have ordered the flooring so hopefully that will be here in a couple of weeks and it will all be complete.

Flynn has TT really well. Not many accidents , none at home just when he goes to daycare cause he is too busy to go to the toilet. If you ask him to "do you need to go to the toilet" , this little voice comes back at you with "no thanks" . So cute but so grown up.

I am thinking of when to sell of his nappy stash, we have itti bitti AIO, delish and boos, beetlebums, BBH, kids in cloth and some others that I can't think of right now.

Very sad to be selling them off but they are not going to be used again the near future.

Mr Greenjeans update

Started off with a flying start and I have gone flat on it a bit. I have done all but the ribbing around the neck and up the middle (button hole) and not sure how long I want it.

I started on Fetching too just to add a little into the mix and finished one pair which will be used as a pressie tonight. Love the colour of these and hope I have enough left over to make myself a pair. It is the knittery silk/merino in purple nights. Love it and love how it feels.

..........well the dreadful day has loomed . On Thursday 6th March Flynn decided he wanted to toilet train. This would be a milestone for most mums but for a mum of a gorgeous cloth bum boy that is a DISASTER. LOL

He has done super well and had one accident on the first day. We have tried to stay home but also made small trips out and he is a champ.

He has issue with jocks and after a week of no jocks (commando) he decided he would only where "chu chu car" (toot toot big red car wiggle jocks). This would be fine but he only has about 2 pairs with the toot toot car on them. He even went to get the slightly wet one from the washing pile this morning cause he wasn't going to wear them other wise.

He is so grown up and I feel very sad now. No more minky, delish, bamboo BOO HOO.

One a knitting note I have been making Mr Greenjeans in Cascade 220. I have done the body and 1/2arm which the arm is coming out too big so will have to fiddle with it tomorrow.

I have been on holidays since 29th Feb and it has been over 35degrees everyday so really 40here which has been too hot to achieve anything. So basically beside knitting a jumper and TT a child I have achieved nothing. What a waste.

The kids get minimal chocolate from us for easter cause you guessed it mum eats it. I used to have a moto that if you are going to eat chocolate it is only worth it if you feel very sick afterwards. I can inhale a 250gm block in no time.

5. I get motion sickness really badly, put me in the back of a car and I spew, put me in a plane and i spew. I was even sick just recently cause I was balling up yarn on my swift and it was spinning and spinning and so was my head. LOL

6. I love giving gift and offering my services to friends or people. I love having people over for coffee or BBQ. I just love company but also love time on my own .

Been busy even though I haven't been blogging about them but here goes.

Flynn was invited to C birthday but I forgot to get a pressie when I was in town last week, I thought I had enough denim to make a pair of pants for her but no, so I made a library bag instead. Turned out well I thought.

I have been working on these socks for two weeks but had a few days break when I made the longies below. They are Naive socks in a hand dyed Knittery merino.
I love the cables and even though they were a little trying to do I still love them.

So just finished up load all stash photos to Raverly and I have an huge problem. 6.4kg of unused yarn. With another 1kg on the way.

I have decided to crawl under my bed, in my wardrobe, under the dresser and bring out all the yarn i have been hoarding collecting.

I really do have a lot now and it is time to photograph it and add to Raverly so I know what i have and haven't got.

I have three orders coming so really have alot of yarn for someone who started only seriously 12months ago. I started knitting soakers and longies 2 years ago but only ventured into other items last year and started buying all sorts of wonderful yarn.

I seriously think I am addicted.

So this is todays project. The house is resonable clean, only washing to fold, Flynn will be out this afternoon and I am going to enjoy the day.

Off to find all the hidden stashes I think. (insert evil laugh) LOL

Naive socks with handdyed yarn

I dyed up some knittery 4ply the other day and chose this pattern Naive socks for it.

Love the socks but OMG the cable work is very intricate. I think this is the most detail i have done on an item.

Love how they are turning out and trying to make them within a week which would be nice.
